What Can Be Tested?
Any new or redesigned e-commerce website or shopping cart that is complete enough for users to follow to accomplish the user's assigned tasks. Prototype designs can be used.
Testing Method
- Qualitative studies are the most traditional form of user testing. These tests are aimed at producing insights into user behavior to discover what works and doesn't work in the website design. The goal is to tell you how to change the website design to serve your users better and increase conversion rates.
- Heuristic evaluation is the most popular and least expensive of the usability testing methods. The goal of heuristic evaluation is to find the usability problems in the design so that they can be attended to as part of an interactive design process. Heuristic evaluation involves having a professional judge the website's compliance with recognized usability principles (the "heuristics").
- Competitor testing is a special type of usability study that compares designs from multiple competitors against your website. Users or usability experts determine which web sites are best suited for the focus of the website.
